On November 13, 2018, a disturbing incident occurred in Narok town, where a group of over 50 boda boda operators took a 35-year-old driver from his workplace and attempted to take him to the Narok County Referral Hospital for circumcision.
The driver's girlfriend had leaked information about his uncircumcised status, prompting the boda boda operators to take matters into their own hands.
Police intervened and lobbed teargas to disperse residents and rescue the driver, who was eventually taken to the police station.
According to Narok North police boss Joseph Kisombe, the boda boda operators claimed the driver had stayed long without undergoing the 'mandatory cut.'
The driver was forced to march naked through the town streets and was even taken to the Narok river, where he was dipped in readiness for the circumcision.
Some Sh10,000 was raised to help the driver undergo the initiation, but he eventually took himself to the hospital for circumcision to avoid further humiliation.
