Published on July 28, 2019, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has finally come out of hiding and surrendered himself to the authorities after an arrest warrant was issued against him in relation to graft allegations.

Waititu had been missing since the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji ordered for his arrest on Friday, July 26. The DPP's directive led to a manhunt for the embattled governor, who was eventually tracked down and apprehended by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives.

According to sources, Waititu presented himself at the EACC headquarters on Sunday morning and was immediately taken into custody. The move comes after EACC detectives raided the governor's home on Saturday morning in search of him and his wife, Susan Wangari, but they were nowhere to be found.

However, the detectives managed to arrest three other key suspects in the KSh 588 million corruption scandal, including director of M/s Testimony Enterprises Limited Charles Mbuthia Chege and members of the tender evaluation committee Joyce Ngina Musyoka and Simon Kabocho Kangethe.

"We are still looking for him (Waititu). He has not been traced since Friday night. Officers have been checking at his homes but he is not there," an official at the EACC said.
