On Sunday, July 28, 2019, Fr Paul Gitonga delivered a sermon at St Joseph The Workers parish Church in Nakuru Town, urging the Catholic faithful to help struggling parishes.

According to Fr Gitonga, missionaries who came to establish the Nakuru Diocese sacrificed their time and money, laying a strong spiritual foundation that still supports the church today.

He emphasized that as Christians, it is their duty to emulate those foreign missionaries and continue the good work, building more churches and a strong faith.

Fr Gitonga noted that even the most established parishes, like St Joseph The Workers, still require financial assistance to meet their obligations.

He called on Christians to be generous, citing the example of his own parish, St Mary's Tenges, which has about 150 Christians and 13 churches, but only one with electricity.

Fr Gitonga underscored the importance of vocational calling and urged young persons in the church to join priesthood to fill in the gaps of retiring priests.
