On August 18, 2018, the EACC bosses met President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House to discuss the graft crackdown and alleged interference in the Sh3.2 billion Ruaraka land case.

According to highly placed sources, the EACC claimed that the ODPP was stopping the prosecution of suspects in the case, and that an Intelligence officer, Philip Kameru, was pushing for the removal of high-profile government officials from the list of those to be charged.

The EACC also alleged that DPP Noordin Haji had returned the Ruaraka land file to the investigators with new instructions, which they believed was aimed at stifling the case.
