Published on July 27, 2019, a Kenyan preacher, Pastor Anthony Mutua Mwangangi, has been accused of falsely obtaining over Sh100,000 from two job seekers.
According to allegations, Pastor Mwangangi demanded Sh148,000 from two Kenyans with the promise of securing them employment abroad.
He was arraigned in court and charged with fraud before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot.
It is alleged that Pastor Mwangangi obtained Sh117,000 from Ibrahim Yakub by pretending he was in a position to secure him a job placement as a driver in Kuwait.
Additionally, he is accused of obtaining Sh31,000 from Hadija Musa Mohammed by falsely pretending he was in a position to secure her employment as a security guard in the Middle East country.
When presented with the charges, Pastor Mwangangi pleaded not guilty, stating that he is a pastor anointed by God and incapable of deceitful behavior.
He was released on a cash bail of Sh200,000 and the case will be heard on September 6, 2019.
