On July 27, 2019, Real Madrid supporters were left reeling after their side's shocking 7-3 defeat to Atletico in the International Champions Cup.
Despite fielding a strong team, including new signings Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic, along with the likes of Luka Modric, Isco, and Sergio Ramos, Real Madrid struggled to contain Atletico's attack.
Atletico took an astonishing 5-0 lead at halftime, with Diego Costa scoring a hat-trick and Joao Felix netting his first goal for the club.
Real Madrid's poor defense was criticized by fans, with some calling for the game to be stopped due to their team's performance.
Although Real Madrid managed to score three times in the second half, the final result was seen as a humiliating defeat for many supporters.
Some fans even called for manager Zinedine Zidane to quit after the game, citing concerns about the team's performance and the lack of progress under his leadership.
"One Twitter user wrote: "When will #ZidaneOut start trending? He is sending Bale and Ceballos and Rodriguez away but keeping Nacho and Lucas. Maybe he isn't good enough for this club."
Another fan added, "Zidane will be found out this season- doesn't have Ronaldo or Bale (looking like) to save him."
And one fan summed it up by writing: "One of the worst days to be a Real Madrid fan. It hurts me that I denied myself sleep to watch this at midnight."
