Published on July 27, 2019, reports claimed that Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale was on the verge of signing a Sh128 million deal with Jiangsu Suning, a Chinese Super League outfit.

The 30-year-old Welshman has been at Real since 2013 and has been told by coach Zinedine Zidane that he does not form part of his future plans at the Spanish giants.

Spanish daily Marca claimed that Bale will earn Sh2.5 billion per season in China, and that the deal is almost finalised.

However, later reports by Sky Sports suggested that Bale's representatives were negotiating a £1 million a week contract before the Chinese transfer window shuts on Wednesday.

Real boss Zidane had previously said that it would be "best for everyone" if Bale's departure could be arranged quickly, comments that Bale's agent branded "disrespectful".

"He had a good game and I'm happy for him," Zidane said after Bale came on as a substitute in a midweek 3-2 friendly win over Arsenal in the United States.

Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett has insisted that any deal which sees the Welshman leave the Bernabeu would have to be a permanent one and not one that sees him shipped out on loan.
