On July 26, 2019, the government launched a reform process in public universities to address financial constraints and other challenges facing the institutions.

Prof. Collette Suda, the Chief Administrative Secretary and Principal Secretary for University Education and Research, stated that the reforms will involve rationalizing staff and reviewing academic programs among other changes.

The government's intention for the reforms is to secure the stability and competitiveness of the universities, anchored on a sustainable growth model, and make graduates from the institutions competitive and able to secure opportunities within and beyond Kenya's borders.

Prof. Suda emphasized the importance of ensuring that institutions of higher learning provide world-class education and encouraged all stakeholders to support the reforms.

She also called upon Kenyatta University Management and other key stakeholders to take research findings to the next level of implementation for them to have an impact on society.

Prof. Suda commended Kenyatta University for planning a major international conference in October where issues related to the Big Four Agenda will be addressed.

The PS announced that the Ministry of Education will work with all stakeholders to mobilize ideas that will help develop an enviable curriculum that will form a firm foundation for children's education.

She urged the graduates to look out for opportunities that will enable them contribute towards the Big 4 Agenda and Vision 2030.
