Utali College Sports Day: Chui House Leads the Way

On July 27, 2019, Utalii College hosted its annual Sports Day, showcasing the talents of its students. The event saw Chui House emerge as the top-performing team, with an impressive 21 points.

Chui House's success was evident in various sports, including netball, volleyball, basketball, and football. They secured the top spot in the standings, five points ahead of second-placed Faru, who scored 16 points. Ndovu and Simba followed closely, with 12 and 11 points respectively.

In the athletics events, Eunice Malenge won the women's 100m race in 19.5 seconds, beating Irene Bitongo (20.3 seconds) and Victoria Mumbi (21.1 seconds). Maurice Papai took the men's title in 15.1 seconds, outpacing Justus Ochieng (15.4 seconds) and Edward Jirongo (17.1 seconds).

Other notable winners included Diana Kemboi, who won the women's 400m in 77 seconds, and Brison Adamba, who took the men's title in 54.2 seconds.

Speaking at the event, Utali College Council Chairman Mwambu Muliro emphasized the importance of sports in bringing people together. He encouraged students to utilize the institution's sporting facilities to hone their talents and potentially make a living from sports.

"Sports brings people together. I am glad all of you showed up for the games and I would like to encourage majority of you to get involved even more in sports since you can make a living from it," he said.

Utalii College Principal and CEO Hashim Mohamed also highlighted the event's significance, stating that it provided an opportunity for students, staff, and senior officials to interact.
