Leaders from the political and corporate spheres have described the demise of Kibra MP Ken Okoth as a big blow not only to Kenyans but Africa as a whole.
Opposition politicians Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka led the tributes, expressing their shock at the untimely death of the man many described as a brave champion of equal education.
Okoth, a 41-year-old born and bred in Kibra slum, had been fighting cancer for close to six months and was in and out of hospital both locally and overseas.
He was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer, which he earlier indicated had brought a complete change in his life.
Despite his illness, the late MP vowed to remain strong and stand tall once he completed chemotherapy drugs he was on.
When news about his health condition first hit headlines, Kenyans from all walks of life poured in encouraging messages and prayed for the MP to get well.
