On July 26, 2019, State House issued a statement praising Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth for his bravery in battling colorectal cancer.

Okoth, who had been undergoing treatment in France, was commended for his determination to defeat the disease.

"In closing, allow me to mention a great son of Kenya, the Member of Parliament for Kibra Constituency Mheshimiwa Ken Okoth who has recently returned to the country after months of treatment in France," said State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena.

Okoth's fight against cancer was seen as an inspiration to many Kenyans, with Dena urging the country to support fellow Kenyans affected by cancer.

Tragically, Okoth passed away on the same day, at 4 pm, after years of battling the deadly diagnosis.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
