Ken Okoth, the Kibra Member of Parliament, has passed away after a long battle with colorectal cancer. The 41-year-old MP was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer with metastases to the liver in an interview with the Sunday Standard earlier this year.

Okoth revealed his diagnosis in an interview with the Sunday Standard on [2019-07-26T16:59:43.000Z], stating, "I was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer with metastases to the liver," he told the paper.

Colorectal cancer develops from both the colon and rectum, and 50 per cent of patients develop metastasis disease of the liver, which are tumour growths in the liver, spread from cancer causing cells in some part of the body.

Okoth had been experiencing symptoms of ulcers, bacterial infections, and abdominal pain for over a year, which he was being treated for. However, by the time his doctor ordered advanced scans, the cancer was found at stage four, shocking news to his family.
