Ken Okoth, the Kibra Member of Parliament, has died after a long battle with colorectal cancer.

Okoth's death was confirmed late on Friday afternoon by the Clerk of the National Assembly.

He had been diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer in February 2019 and had been undergoing treatment since then.

At the time of his diagnosis, Okoth said that his condition had been discovered at a very advanced stage, making it difficult to cure.

Despite his condition, Okoth remained optimistic and kept sharing with concerned Kenyans details of his treatment.

He flew out of the country for further treatment in France and returned to Kenya early this month after being away for five months.

Okoth's wife, Monica, and other family members were by his side during his treatment.
