On July 26, 2019, a court in Nyeri heard the case of Esther Muthoni, a 52-year-old woman who was charged with threatening her father's life.
According to reports, Esther's father, Paul Kimani, had asked her to relocate to a different parcel of land he had allocated her, but she refused, insisting she had a right to stay at their home and continue living with her partner.
Esther's father had expressed his displeasure with her arrangement and asked her to leave, but she was adamant, saying she would continue staying with her lover regardless of his father's reservations.
Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo ordered Esther to apologise to her father and vacate her father's home together with her suitor, but she refused, leading to her bond being cancelled and her remand for one week.
Esther's father, Paul Kimani, maintained that she was old enough to continue living with her parents and that he no longer wanted her on his property.
The matter will be mentioned on July 31, 2019.
