On July 26, 2019, a heated exchange erupted between opposition leader Raila Odinga and his former ally Miguna Miguna.
Miguna Miguna, a fierce defender of Raila Odinga, turned against him after Raila asked President Uhuru Kenyatta for a job.
Miguna faulted Raila's decision, pointing out that Peter Kenneth is a billionaire with significant business interests, including an insurance company and a bank, making a government job unnecessary.
Instead, Miguna suggested that Raila should advocate for young Kenyans, such as Kelvin Ochieng', an actuarial science student who gained national attention for living on the streets despite scoring first-class honors at the University of Nairobi.
“Stop conmanship! Luo-Nyanza leads in unemployment but you would rather add insult to injury by grovelling before Despot Uhuru Kenyatta on behalf of a Murang’a Mafia?” Miguna said in a scathing rebuke.
