Published on July 25, 2019, Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka has parted ways with the Tanga Tanga movement, citing political incompatibility with Deputy President William Ruto.
Onyonka, who is also the Kisii County Tanga Tanga Chairman, has been a vocal critic of Ruto's constant attacks on former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
"Let it be known from today that I am no longer working with the Deputy President since I have found out that our political destinations were far apart and that we are politically incompatible," Onyonka said.
He has taken issue with first-term MPs from Tanga Tanga who are being used by Ruto to attack Raila Odinga, calling them greenhorns who are disrespectful.
"Raila Odinga has played a major role in the country's liberation and should be respected, and it was disturbing that some political greenhorns associated with the DP are abusing him," Onyonka said.
Onyonka, who was previously a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), dumped the party in the run-up to the 2017 elections, fearing he would be rigged out of party nominations.
