On July 25, 2019, Russian boxer Maxim Dadashev, known as 'Mad Max,' tragically passed away at the age of 28.

His death occurred just four days after he suffered a severe brain injury during an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior welterweight fight in Maryland.

The fatal bout took place at The Theater at MGM National Harbour in Oxon Hill, where Dadashev took an abundance of blows to the head.

His trainer, Buddy McGirt, pleaded with him to quit, but Dadashev denied the request, and the referee eventually ended the fight.

Subriel Matias, a 27-year-old Puerto Rican boxer, was declared the winner of the fight.

Investigations have been opened into the incident.
