On Thursday morning, a dramatic scene unfolded on the streets of Nairobi, captured on camera for all to see.
A driver of a Nissan March was involved in an accident in the upscale neighborhood of Karen, prompting traffic officers to radio ahead to their colleagues to be on the lookout for the car.
When the driver was spotted and stopped by traffic officers on Ngong Road next to the Nairobi Montessori Preparatory School, a violent altercation ensued.
According to Nairobi traffic police commander Joshua Omukata, the driver was seen holding an object, the nature of which was unclear, as the officer attempted to intervene.
As the situation escalated, pedestrians intervened, dragging the police officer out of the car, and when one tried to deal with the driver, he drove off, leaving the officer to hang on to the car's open door.
Omukata has circulated the car's registration number KCT 730Q, and police are hopeful that the driver will be in custody by the end of the day.
