On July 25, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta's social media accounts were hacked, sparking speculation that the move was a response to his warning against graft cartels.

According to the State House, the president's social media handles were temporarily suspended to allow for remedial measures to be undertaken after unauthorized access was detected.

Uhuru Kenyatta had earlier posted a warning to graft cartels, stating that he would not spare anyone found to be involved in corruption scandals.

Kenyan social media users were quick to poke fun at the situation, questioning how the president could protect his social media handles if he couldn't protect the country's taxes and handle corruption.

Some users even offered to sell the president secure accounts, while others called for the resignation of those responsible for misusing public funds.
