On Thursday, President Uhuru Kenyatta welcomed five finalists of the Ms President reality show to the launch of Bidco Industrial Park in Ruiru, Kiambu County. The event took place on a day the reality TV show premiered on January 30 and will end on July 31.
The five contestants, Anne Waruguru Kiai, Betty Adera, Irene Mayaka, Nereah Amondi Oketch, and Umulkheir Mohammed, were presented with a rare opportunity to share the stage with the President. They touched on women and youth leadership, their personal projects, and requested viewers for votes in the ongoing competition.
“Today in the morning I received beautiful ladies who are competing on who will be the first female president on Ms President TV show. They interviewed me, and I asked them that since they want to be presidents they should accompany me and see the work the president does. I invite them to say something,” said Mr. Kenyatta before inviting the five contestants to the stage.
Media Focus on Africa (MFA) produced the show, which originated from Palestinian Ma’aan Television Network’s highly popular program “The President”. The show aims to empower Kenyan women to build sustainable capacity for effective leadership, especially in conflict management, peace building, and crisis preparedness.
