On July 24, 2019, the English Football Association (FA) announced that Everton defender Yerry Mina had been charged with misconduct in relation to alleged breaches of its betting regulations.

The charge relates to Mina's alleged participation in an advertisement for a betting company in his native Colombia, which he is prohibited from engaging in due to FA rules.

According to British media reports, Mina appeared in a clip promoting the betting company Betjuego in Colombia.

Mina joined Everton from Barcelona in August 2018 but has struggled to make an impact in English football, with a foot injury delaying his debut until November and a hamstring issue restricting him to just 15 appearances for Everton in all competitions.

The FA rules prohibit players, coaches, and officials from advertising or promoting any betting activity related to football.

Mina has until July 26, 2019, to respond to the FA's charge.
