On July 25, 2019, Shoprite announced plans to expand its presence in Kenya by opening new stores in Mombasa and Nairobi.
The retailer, which already has stores in Garden City Mall and Westgate Mall, aims to open a supermarket in City Mall Mombasa and another in a yet-to-be-identified mall in Nairobi.
According to Andrew Mweemba, Shoprite Kenya's General Manager, the City Mall store will offer customers a diverse range of quality products, including imported items from around the world.
The store will also feature a seating area where customers can enjoy food prepared at the store's fresh food department.
Mr. Mweemba expressed optimism about Shoprite's potential in Kenya, citing the creation of employment opportunities and contribution to the country's economy as key benefits of the expansion.
