Maxim Dadashev, a 28-year-old Russian boxer, died on July 24, 2019, after suffering a severe brain injury in a boxing match against Puerto Rico's Subriel Matias on July 19, 2019.
According to a statement from Top Rank, Dadashev died due to the injuries he sustained in the brain during the fight.
He was rushed to a hospital in the United States for emergency surgery but unfortunately, he died a few hours later.
Dadashev was married with a one-year-old son who lives in Oxnand, California.
His death has sent shockwaves in the boxing community, with many paying tribute to the young boxer.
Top Rank announced the news of Dadashev's death on Twitter, saying, "We are saddened to announce the passing of Maxim Dadashev, who died due to the injuries he sustained in the brain during the fight."
