Arsenal Suffers Preseason Defeat to Real Madrid in International Champions Cup

On July 24, Arsenal suffered their first preseason defeat to Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup at the FedEx Field.

The Gunners were seeking to make it four wins out of four in their campaign, having won three of their previous matches including a 3-2 famous win over Bayern Munich.

However, they surrendered a 2-0 lead at half-time to finish the match 2-2 after regulation time. Real Madrid eventually emerged victorious 3-2 on penalties.

Gunners fans were quick to criticize Granit Xhaka's performance, with some branding him worse than Shkodran Mustafi, who was sent off after 40 minutes for a second yellow card.

One fan tweeted, "Another season of Granit Xhaka ladies & gentlemen. He's worse than Mustafi in a way as some fans actually seem to rate him."

Another fan said, "Xhaka out of my club, please and thanks."

Despite Xhaka's penalty miss in the shootout, he had assisted in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's goal earlier in the match.

Real Madrid's Gareth Bale scored the winning goal in the shootout, securing a 3-2 victory for the Spanish giants.
