President Makes Key Changes to National Treasury Following Court Order

On July 24, 2019, His Excellency the President made significant changes to the organization of the National Treasury and its affiliated ministries in response to a court order affecting Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and Principal Secretary Dr. Kamau Thugge.

As a result, Hon. (Amb.) Ukur Yatani Kanacho, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, assumed the Acting Cabinet Secretary responsibility for National Treasury and Planning.

Additionally, Dr. Julius Monzi Muia was appointed as the Principal Secretary for the National Treasury, while Mr. Torome Saitoti took on the role of Principal Secretary for the State Department of Planning.

Lastly, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Gordon Kihalangwa was appointed as the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Defence.
