The Kenya men's basketball team, the Morans, has made history by qualifying for the quarter-finals of the African Basketball Championship in Bamako, Mali.

On July 24, 2019, the team staged a dramatic comeback to stun Ivory Coast 85-83 in the second round of the inaugural edition of the championship.

Kenya's Tylor Ongwae emerged as the match hero after producing a buzzer-beating shot just two seconds from the clock to win it for the Morans.

The Kenyan side's victory marked a significant milestone in their journey to the quarter-finals, where they will face Tunisia on Wednesday night, July 24, for a chance to reach the semis.

Meanwhile, Tunisia earned an automatic qualification into the quarters after topping Group D that included Egypt and Guinea with four points.

Kenya qualified for the Round of 16 after finishing second in Group B behind DR Congo, who collected maximum points after demolishing Kenya and Nigeria to secure a spotless qualification to the last eight.
