Governor Nyong'o Rejects KSh 19M Luxurious Car ¶

Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has rejected a KSh 19 million luxurious car bought for his official use by county officials.
The luxurious Toyota Land Cruiser V8 was purchased with a foreign registration number and was driven to the governor's office last week.
However, Governor Nyong'o declined to use the car, insisting it must be registered officially.
According to county Finance Executive Nerry Achar, the county boss had declined using the car because it had a foreign registration and they were in the process of getting it registered.
"The car had no registration number plate. It only had a foreign registration, so we are now processing its registration," said Achar.
Already officials from Kisumu Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) were investigating how the car was purchased.
A senior officer at the EACC office said they had written to the County Secretary Olango Onudi seeking purchase documents for the car.
This development has put some senior county officials who procured the car in an awkward situation as the car dealer is said to have refused to take it back.
