On February 28th, DP Ruto dismissed Raila Odinga's concerns about the Arror and Kimwarer dams project, stating that the government had not lost any money and that every coin paid had a bank guarantee.

However, almost five months later, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has established that the government had indeed lost a significant amount of money in the project, contrary to Ruto's claims.

According to the DPP, an amount of close to 20 billion shillings was lost through a well-choreographed scheme to defraud public funds.

DP Ruto's claims were also disputed by Raila Odinga during a devolution conference at Kirinyaga on March 7th, where he called out the DP for hypocrisy in his remarks.

"If we are talking about the theft in the dams project, don't come and tell us it was not Sh20 billion, it was only Sh7 billion. Let the investigating authorities complete their investigations. Who are you to tell us? How did you know?" Raila posed.

On Monday, the DPP's statement was in agreement with Raila's remarks, further discrediting DP Ruto's claims.
