Published on July 23, 2019, the Kenya-Tanzania power transmission line project has made significant progress, with the government expressing satisfaction with the current state of the project.

The 414km power transmission line, which is a 400 kilovolt interconnector, is now at 51% completion. The project, which began in 2017, is scheduled for completion in April 2020 and is expected to cost Sh600 billion.

Electricity and Renewable Energy Commissioner Engineer Innocent Luoga inspected the project and expressed his pleasure with the contractor's speed. He noted that 100 power towers have been installed out of the 384 that would be erected.

Project supervisor Engineer Peter Kigadye from Tanesco urged residents to continue cooperating with the contractor to ensure the project's timely completion.
