With the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) behind them, Harambee Stars are now gearing up for the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), a tournament that has often been overshadowed by AFCON in terms of preparation and seriousness.

During AFCON, the government allocated Sh 242 million for the team's preparation and stay in Egypt, a significant investment that was a departure from the usual lack of support for Kenyan football teams.

However, with CHAN not being as highly rated as AFCON, there are concerns that the government and FKF may not allocate the same amount of resources for the team's preparation.

As the team prepares to face Tanzania on July 28 in their first CHAN qualifier match, they will be without foreign-based players, making it a different challenge for Harambee Stars.

Despite the challenges, the team's players are holding onto hope, and the government and FKF will be keen to avoid a repeat of the unpaid allowances narrative that has plagued Kenyan football for years.

As the team's coach, Sebastien Migne, has already named his final 23-man squad, the players are eagerly waiting to receive their allowances, which were a key motivator for the team during AFCON.

With the team's CHAN campaign set to begin, the government and FKF will be under pressure to ensure that the players are well-catered for, just as they were during AFCON.
