On July 23, 2019, Senior Economist David Ndii made it clear that he would not be available to work for President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration as Finance Cabinet Secretary.
His declaration comes a day after the arrest of Treasury CS Henry Rotich, who could face the axe if he doesn't resign following allegations of corruption linked to the loss of over KSh 19 billion meant for the construction of Kimwarer and Arror dams in Elgeyo-Marakwet County.
Earlier in April, President Uhuru had stated that he would only sack those prosecuted in accordance with the law, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law and due process.
However, Ndii, a loyal supporter and strategist of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has once again turned down requests to take over the leadership of the Treasury, citing the illegitimacy of Uhuru's regime.
On his verified Twitter account, Ndii posted a public notice stating, 'I'm not available to work for Uhuru Kenyatta's corrupt illegitimate govt. Those thinking corruption/economy can be fixed in Treasury are gravely mistaken. National crisis will persist until a financial implosion or Jubilee is out of power whichever comes first.'
Ndii's stance is a reflection of his strong opposition to Uhuru's administration, which he believes is corrupt and illegitimate.
