Betika Admits to Cancelling Successful Bets

On July 23, 2019, a Twitter post by blogger Muthui Mkenya opened a can of worms regarding a potential fraud scheme by Betika, a leading betting firm in Kenya.

Muthui Mkenya alleged that Betika was cancelling successful bets, a claim that was later refuted by the firm. However, in a surprising turn of events, Betika admitted to cancelling some bets due to a technical issue.

Several users came forward to share their experiences with Betika, with some claiming that they had been shortchanged on successful bets. Antony Koome and Davis Chirchir were among those who shared their stories, with Koome stating that Betika had cancelled three of his bets.

Despite Betika's initial denial, the firm later apologised for the cancellations and assured users that all bets would be paid in full. However, the number of complaints raises an alarm and a need for immediate action by the Betting Board to investigate and ascertain the truth.
