Senegal players who took part in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt are set to receive a hefty reward for their efforts.

According to a statement made by Senegal president Macky Sall on July 20, the players and members of the technical bench will be awarded a sum of KSh 3.4 million each for their exploits in the continental showpiece.

This announcement comes after the Lions of Teranga suffered a 1-0 defeat to Algeria in the finals, with Baghdad Bounedjah claiming the decisive goal that won the Desert Foxes their second continental silverware.

Senegal's second AFCON final in their history was their first appearance in the finals since losing to Cameroon in 2002.

The west African football powerhouse will be seeking to make amend in the next edition of the tournament slated for 2021 in Cameroon, where they have been drawn against Congo, Guinea Bissau, and Eswatini in Group One of the competition's qualifiers.
