Floyd Mayweather, a boxing legend with a perfect 50-0 record, has been named a special advisor to China's boxing team as they prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

According to the Chinese Boxing Federation, Mayweather has pledged to use his influence and resources to support the Chinese boxing project in achieving excellent results at the Olympics.

Mayweather's appointment comes as China looks to improve its medal count in the sport, which was once banned in the country.

China's first Olympic medal in boxing was won by Zou Shiming in 2004, and since then, the country has seen further successes, including gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

Mayweather, who won world titles in five different weight divisions, made no mention of his new role on his social media accounts.
