LA Galaxy star Zlatan Ibrahimovic could face a heavy ban in the MLS after elbowing an opponent during a heated LA derby on Friday night.

On July 19, 2019, Ibrahimovic netted a hat-trick to reduce LAFC's lead at the top of the MLS Western Conference to nine points.

However, his performance was marred by a clash with Libyan international Mohamed El-Monir, who required surgery for injuries suffered.

According to a Mirror report, video clips revealed that Ibrahimovic checked at El-Monir's position before delivering an elbow to the defender's face.

LAFC goalkeeper coach Zak Abdel confronted Ibrahimovic on the field, with the Swede responding, "Go home, you little b - Go home".

Ibrahimovic has been suspended once this season by MLS officials for unsportsmanlike behavior and was issued a two-game ban and an undisclosed fine for violent conduct in May.
