July 22, 2019 - Samsung's Galaxy Fold, initially set to launch on April 26, has been in the works for a relaunch after its indefinite postponement due to display and hinge design issues.

According to recent reports, Samsung has been working on fixing the problems, including tucking the protective display layer into the body and blocking gaps at the top and bottom of the hinge to prevent debris from damaging the foldable display.

News portal Gizchina reported Samsung Display Vice President Kim Seong-Cheol confirming that the Galaxy Fold's problems have been fixed and it is ready to hit the market.

As part of the testing process, Samsung Electronics sent the Galaxy Fold to a group of tech experts, including industry professionals and professors at the Seoul National University and KAIST, who reportedly gave the phone a clean bill of health.

The device features a 7.3-inch primary flexible AMOLED display, a secondary 4.6-inch screen on the cover, and a 16MP + 12MP + 12MP triple rear camera set-up, among other premium features.

Realistically, a July launch seems unlikely, but given the new rumor, an August release is looking more plausible, possibly after the August 7 Galaxy Note10 Unpacked event.
