On July 22, 2019, Stray Lions marked a significant turning point in their Nairobi Invitational T20 League Super Division campaign by securing their first win of the tournament.
The team's victory came at the expense of their hosts, Sir Ali Club, whom they defeated by six wickets.
Stray Lions' batting lineup, led by Aman Gandhi and Ram Murugesh, played a crucial role in their success. Gandhi's impressive effort, although falling short of a half-century, was enough to propel his team to victory.
Fielding first, Stray Lions' bowlers allowed Sir Ali to score 159 for seven in their innings. Zahib Abbas top-scored for Sir Ali with 43 runs off 32 balls, while Gurdeep Singh and Vishal Kukade contributed 32 and 29 runs respectively.
Varun Prakash was the standout bowler for Stray Lions, taking three wickets for 33 runs.
Stray Lions' recovery from a poor start to their innings, which saw opener Jay Mehita dismissed early, was instrumental in their win. Gandhi, who represented Kenya in the 2018 ICC under 19 World Cup, partnered with Nithin Arvind to stabilize their chase before Gandhi's elimination.
