On August 15, 2015, a heinous crime was committed in Tamboiyot village, Soy sub-county, when a 45-year-old man defiled his six-year-old daughter.
According to the particulars of the charge, the accused committed the crime on the night of August 15, 2015.
His neighbour, Ester Chebet, testified in court that the girl went to her house on August 16, 2015, and described the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father.
The girl was taken to Ziwa Hospital, where a clinical officer confirmed that she had been defiled.
Despite the accused's denial of the crime and his claims of being framed, Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa ruled that the medical report confirmed the girl's defilement and sentenced the man to 20 years' imprisonment.
The man has 14 days to appeal the sentence.
