On July 20, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris put aside their differences to attend an event led by President Uhuru Kenyatta at Dandora, where the President was launching a KCC dairy plant to mark Cooperative Day.
It was the first time in weeks that the two had been seen together in public, after a highly publicized feud between them. Sonko and Passaris had been at odds over a series of incidents, including an alleged incident where Sonko allegedly assaulted Passaris at a Nairobi hotel.
Passaris had previously called on Sonko to prioritize Nairobi's interests before seeking aid from other counties, but Sonko had refused to back down. The tension between them had been building up for weeks, with their supporters on social media trading insults and accusations.
However, on this occasion, the two were seen laughing and chatting together, with Passaris even joking with Sonko at one point. The event was attended by many of Nairobi's residents, who were surprised to see the two former foes putting aside their differences.
