A 22-year-old female student at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) was found dead in her house under mysterious circumstances on Sunday, July 21, 2019.

Fouzia Adan Ibrahim, a third-year student of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance, was discovered by her friend who had gone to visit her at Makuti estate, Lurambi.

According to Maxwell Kasive, who discovered the deceased, Fouzia had been ailing from an unknown disease and was under medication. She had requested Kasive to take her to the hospital the previous evening, but when he arrived, he found the door locked from inside and not opened even after knocking frequently.

After breaking the door, Kasive discovered Fouzia's lifeless body lying on the bed. The student leaders, including Vincent Lumala, the MMUST Student Chairman, arrived at the scene immediately.

Mr. Lumala expressed his sadness over the unfortunate death, stating that it was the second in under two months. He urged everyone not to speculate about the possible cause of the death, as investigations were underway.

David Kabena, Kakamega Central Sub-county Commander, confirmed the incident and stated that the body did not have any physical injury, suggesting that Fouzia might have succumbed to the illness.

The body was taken to the mortuary awaiting an autopsy, which will ascertain the cause of death.
