On July 21, 2019, the Kenya Boxing Federation announced its provisional squad for the 12th All Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco.
The squad, comprising 17 male and 9 female boxers, was selected after the third leg of the National Boxing League at Mombasa's Uwanja Wa Mbuzi Stadium.
The league, which featured 115 boxers from all 47 counties, was a competitive three-day event that ended on July 20, 2019.
Anthony Ombok, the President of the Boxing Federation of Kenya, praised the competitiveness of the league, noting that all teams participated, unlike in the previous two legs.
Ombok also announced plans to introduce a youth league in August to scout and groom future talents, and promised to continue equipping counties and improving boxers' welfare.
He thanked Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko and Hon. Simon Mbugua for their support and welcomed corporate companies to support boxing.
