On July 21, 2019, a bodyguard attached to Meru County Speaker Joseph Kaberia was shot dead in a cold-blooded attack at Kamiti Corner, Nairobi.
The incident occurred at around 3 am when the bodyguard, Constable Samuel Munga, was shot in the chest and later pronounced dead at the Ruaraka Neema Hospital in Kasarani area.
The driver of the speaker, identified as Andrew Nabea, was arrested after preliminary findings showed he could be behind the shooting. Nabea had a gunshot wound in the left leg, but it was unclear if he shot himself.
Police said they recovered Munga's pistol, which had 15 bullets, indicating he did not fire it. Nabea's gun had three bullets, and he had fired 20 bullets from his pistol, whose spent cartridges were recovered.
According to neighbours, they heard an argument between the two outside the gate before gunshots rent the air. The driver is now a suspect in the incident, and police intend to carry further analysis on his gun to establish if it was the one used to kill Munga.
