DP Ruto Warns Kenyans Against Lecturing Him on Charity ¶
Deputy President William Ruto has warned Kenyans against lecturing him on charity after he donated to a church in Machakos County.
Speaking at a fundraising event for the Africa Inland Church (AIC) in Katisaafu, Machakos County, on July 21, 2019, Ruto said that some of his political opponents do not like to see him donating to churches in any way.
"We have read the Bible and understood what we are supposed to do. There is no one who should dictate to us how to give to God," Ruto said.
Ruto also praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for bringing together leaders from all sides, including his opponents, and said it was time for a change in the way politics is conducted in the country.
"We need to make our politics more inclusive and build a foundation for a united Kenya," Ruto said.
He was accompanied by MPs Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Charles Nguna (Mwingi West), Rachel Nyamai (Kitui South), Flabian Muli (Kangundo), George Sunkuyia (Kajiado West), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), and Moses Lesonet of Eldamaravin.
