Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has taken President Uhuru Kenyatta to task over his appointments of Principal Secretaries, saying they are unconstitutional.
Speaking in Imenti South, Meru County, on July 19, 2019, Jumwa said that the appointments were a waste of time and resources, as the Principal Secretaries were not doing work that was in line with the Constitution.
'What exactly are these Principal Secretaries doing? They have been given tasks that are not in the Constitution. This is why some of them, like Rachael Shebesh, are wasting a lot of time going around without a plan,' Jumwa said.
Shebesh is the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs and is a member of the Team Embrace group of women leaders who have been touring the country to promote unity between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
Other women leaders who were present at the meeting included Beatrice Nkatha Nyaga (Tharaka Nithi County), Faith Gitau (Nyandarua), and Gladys Shollei (Uasin Gishu).
They called on their fellow women to reject any attempts to undermine their leadership and to stand up for their rights.
