July 20, 2019 - Founded in 2017 by Onipinsaiye Tomiwa Henry (CEO) and Salawu Oluwadamilola (CTO), Aimtoget is an innovative online platform that allows customers to convert airtime to cash and withdraw it to their bank accounts instantly.
The platform, which has been shipping exciting features since its launch, enables Nigerian merchants to accept payment from customers using recharge card PIN. Additionally, users can create a balance on top of the core service, and the firm recently started offering airtime and data purchase, bill payments with airtime or cash, and wallet savings with mobile airtime.
In an exclusive interview with TechMoran, Aimtoget CEO Onipinsaiye Tomiwa Henry shared the company's vision and growth plans. According to Henry, Aimtoget was founded to address the need for an ecosystem where the middle class in Nigeria can transact with airtime on all major digital services.
When asked about the problem Aimtoget is solving, Henry explained that the platform helps convert airtime to cash when mistakenly over-recharged, allows merchants to accept payment through recharge pins, enables users to exchange airtime for cash, and facilitates donations with airtime. Furthermore, Aimtoget provides a real-time airtime payment gateway using Airtime PIN, Aimtoget E-PIN, or Aimtoget QR Scan.
Regarding competition, Henry noted that aside from the core airtime to cash service, there are several fintech platforms and banking apps offering data, bills, and airtime purchase services in Nigeria.
Aimtoget is currently bootstrapping and has faced challenges with uptake and customer complaints. However, the company is committed to growing its team, especially the customer happiness department, to improve response times and customer satisfaction.
With operations currently limited to Nigeria, specifically Ibadan, Aimtoget has plans to expand to Ghana and other African countries. The company generates revenue by charging a few percentage on every airtime transaction across its platform and merchants. Since launch, Aimtoget has converted over N150 million worth of airtime.
