On July 20, 2019, a devastating head-on collision occurred on the Isiolo-Meru road, claiming the lives of a pastor and his wife.
The couple, along with a third passenger, were traveling to Mwingi to attend a burial when their car was hit by an oncoming vehicle driven by a Catholic priest from Isiolo.
According to Buuri Sub-County Police Commander Joseph Asugo, the priest was reportedly driving under the influence and on the wrong lane at the time of the accident.
Tragically, the pastor and his wife died instantly, while the couple's son was left critically injured and admitted to the Isiolo County Referral Hospital.
The Catholic priest, who was also involved in the accident, fled the scene but was later treated for minor injuries at a local private hospital.
Police have urged motorists to adhere to traffic rules to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.
