On July 19, 2019, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) tweeted a picture of five male elephants wandering on a busy road in Laikipia county, sparking a wave of humor on Twitter.
According to KWS, the elephants had lost their route while migrating from Laikipia to Mau and were wandering around Timboroa forest dam. The KWS advised locals in the area to exercise caution to avoid any cases of attacks.
Twitter users had a field day coming up with hilarious explanations for the elephants' detour. Some suggested that the elephants were running away from their problematic wives, while others joked that they were looking for a bedsitter to cool off away from toxic relationships.
One user, Erick Cheruiyot, commented, 'Fridays and males loosing directions going home.' Another user, 254Native, joked, 'They just had to be male, and am here wondering why I lose my way back home every weekend. It's just in the male species, sio kupenda kwetu.'
The KWS tweet that sparked the humor read: 'Rift Region Update: A herd of five male elephants on migration from Laikipia to Mau have lost their route and are wandering around Timboroa forest dam. You are advised to exercise caution if in this area.'
