On Thursday, Labour CS Ukur Yattani, Wajir South MP Omar Mohamed, and Wajir Deputy Governor Ahmed Mukhtar joined the Embrace Movement as it toured Wajir County, donating equipment, foodstuffs, and cheques to women and youth groups.
July 20, 2019, marked a significant shift in the Embrace Movement's trajectory, with state officials increasingly joining the outfit. This trend can be attributed to the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, which has seen senior state officials, including Cabinet Secretaries, take instructions from Raila Odinga on issues of national importance.
Following the presidential directive, Cabinet Secretaries, particularly female ones, have been drawn into the Embrace Movement. Although the movement has not explicitly entered politics, it has brought together women leaders from across the political divide to fight for the welfare of Kenyan women.
Other organizations and NGOs, such as UN Women, Equality Now, Creaw, Ngaaf, and Black Light, have also joined the Embrace Movement, which has grown popular for addressing critical issues facing women in the country.
