On a sweltering Friday evening in Mombasa County, Nation FC kicked off their tour with a resounding 2-1 victory over Coast Media Football Club at Burhani Sports Club. The match, played on July 19, 2019, was a testament to the team's skill and determination.

Isaac Ochieng Agutu, son of Nation Editions Editor, was the star of the show, combining seamlessly with his teammates to outmaneuver the Coast Media defense. The diminutive left back Kevin Lwagu set the tone early on, delivering a precise pass to Ochieng, who then outpaced Michael Miheso and sent a well-weighted cross that was easily tapped in by Amboso in the first minute.

Coast Media, however, refused to give up, and danger man Mark Mutuku was put through by hardworking Sammy Mwaura, only to see his fierce shot parried out for a corner by Nation goalkeeper Ali Bakari. The visitors continued to push, but Nation's experience ultimately told, with Lidava stretching the lead from yet another Ochieng pass work before Mutuku pulled one back for Coast Media on the stroke of half-time.

“Coast Media FC were an improved lot especially in the second half when they kept threatening us but our experience came in handy,” Nation FC coach John Ashihundu said after the match.

The visitors will take on Bandari Veterans on Saturday from 4pm, and Nation team manager Elias Makori expressed his gratitude to all those who made the friendly a reality, including their CEO, sponsors StarTimes, and partners Coast Bus.
