Kenyan music has undergone a significant transformation over the years, with many artists adopting a more provocative style. Gone are the days when music was smooth and soothing, with lyrics that could be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Today, many songs feature twerking, a dance style that originated in the West, and has become a staple in Kenyan music. The twerking outfits, often featuring booty shots, have also become a norm in the industry. This trend has not only affected the music industry but has also influenced the younger generation, who are learning and adopting the same behavior.
Moreover, the use of vulgar language in many songs has become a concern. Many artists use this language to pass hidden messages, which are not only explicit but also disturbing. This trend has become so prevalent that even upcoming artists are adopting the same behavior, leaving many to wonder where the morals have gone in the music industry.
It is high time for the media and the majority of youths to pinpoint this issue to our musicians. By doing so, we can save the growing generation, which is majorly at risk. The trend of twerking and vulgar language is not only affecting the music industry but also the morality of the nation.
It is not too late to save the music industry and restore its morality. Good craft and creativity of the message can make one get many fans, and sell as well. Love can be sung in a decent way, and it is time for artists to take a step back and reflect on the kind of music they are producing.
It is time for a change in the music industry, and it starts with the artists themselves. By producing music that is decent and respectful, we can save the music industry and restore its morality.
